Off to Ukraine

Heading out with a team  of 6 from NY and Alaska today. We are traveling by van and and will enjoy a beautiful spring late afternoon and evening drive.  It will take us at least 5 hours plus the border crossing so thank you for your prayers. My NY Pastor Marlow Dunham and his wife Tonya are leading up the team. Marlow a frequent traveler to Ukraine is making his first trip back after 2 years away. Tonya hasn't visited in many years. Vince and Diedre Brassard (AK, CO now NY'ers) are also seasoned travelers and have been here before. Also, a return trip for Jack & Deb Marsh from Alaska. We are all really excited to see what God will do. And as friends, we are really glad for the time together! We will have leader's meetings, ministry prayer times and church meetings.  A ladies meeting is planned for Thursday which is "Women's Day" in Ukraine - a very important day. - Chocolates & flowers are readily available for all the ladies in your life. We will be reconnecting with Hope & Life ministry and seeing how all the new missionaries are doing. One couple from NY arrived in the fall and another couple with a baby girl arrived in January. So, new friends and old friends and ministry partners to see and encourage and be encouraged ourselves. I am only doing the first 5 days of their almost 3 week, 3 country trip. July 2019 Update One of the high points of summer is always our 8 day long church camp. Amazingly, this was my 5th camp!  Our guests this year were good friends, Pastor Wayne and Sherry Sanders from Chardon, OH and Paul Richards from Melbourne, Australia.  Every camp is special and God never fails to bring us the exact ministry, prophetic words and teachings we need! The turning of a page....

Don't you just love opening a brand new beautiful and colorful notebook, grabbing your favorite pen and deciding what to write on that clean, white page? Or do you hesitate, wondering what if you mess the page up, or your ink runs out or you misspell something or you spill coffee on it???  Sometimes that first word, on the first page is the hardest.  BUT go for it!!! Jump right in! It's a brand new day, a brand new month and time's a wasting!!! I woke up this morning after a great night's sleep, ( which is somewhat rare) Remembered a dream I had (sometimes happens)...in which I Spoke a sentence in Polish and it seemed correct (and short :-) (an absolute first!) I realized then it was August first and I could turn the page on my calendar!! and in that small act of turning a page, I sensed a shift, a much bigger SHIFT. Will you put your shoes in the window sill tonight?

Most Westerners are surprised to learn that in Hungary, Santa Claus is not really a feature of Christmas proper. Althought the red suited one is a familiar figure to Hungarian children, he takes a back seat to the gift bearing Christ child and his angels on Christmas eve. Indeed, old St Nick is relegated to the early part of December, coming around Hungarian houses only on Mikulas eve. Tonight, December 5, Hungarian children place their shoes on the window sill before going to bed. During the night, the kindly old Saint Mikulas fills their shoes with candy. While this sounds familiar, Mikulas differs markedly from his Western counterpart in that he is helped by a dark side-kick, Krampusz. Krampusz is a horned devil who puts a switch into the shoes of naughty children instead of candy! But this seems to be a very rare occurrence.
