A Fabulous weekend!!!

Image
Be sure to see Syble's blog for more pictures from our great Valentine's Day Outreach Thursday evening. I did an object lesson with heart shaped sugar cookies and then we decorated them (thanks to Grace for recipe and inspiration!) Then check out Arden's blog for a report on Friday evening. ICF-Friday at 7, had its first 2 day event. Jim and Tanya Person ministered on "Having Healthy Relationships". Their topics included how to handle emotions, what soul ties are and the affect of positive and negative ties and sexuality. 39 people from 11 nations came to Fri eve and 30 returned on Saturday. Many said they had never heard teaching of this kind. Saturday evening I had the wonderful blessing of being invited to my first Hungarian "Szalagavato Bal" or Senior's prom. Thanks Zsolti!! It was much different than in USA. It really was like a wonderful dance exhibition and dinner and disco and a champagne toast to the students!! So, check out Arden's bl

The answer to the question not asked

I have been meaning to tell you about the 5 questions I have been musing over. These were sent to me by my roomie Tammy and are meant to be blogged so we can get to know each other better. I was stressing that she would ask the "What kind of animal depicts you best?" question. She got that one not me... BUT I have my answer for that unasked question....I am like..a good friend, loyal, attentive, funny, have your slippers waiting your visit and dare I say a perky personality....I am like a Beagle :-) Did you all see that "Uno" became the Numero Uno when voted Best of Show in the Westminster Kennel Club annual dog show last week. We even have the similarity of short legs and being not as pretty as .....poodles.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

To keep you in ALL your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. (or a load of concrete blocks!!!) Psa 90.11-12   The story is..... I was on my almost weekly drive to Szeged on Friday afternoon. I was only about an hour into the 3+ hour trip when I stopped in the left hand turn lane to pull into a petrol/gas station. I was waiting for a tractor trailer to pass. As the truck proceeded around the corner the load shifted and a pallet of concrete blocks fell off the truck bed. Imagine my surprise!! and my delight to see what the Lord had done. The concrete actually was spread out from about a yard before and after my car, and completely covering the underside from axle to axle. In fact lifting up one side of the car. The hubcaps were cracked and the car scraped from front to rear BUT I was able to drive away. I had time to take just 2 photos before my camera battery died. I took the picture of the debris on Saturday on my way home. I misse

The Super Bowl on Super Tuesday

I arrived back in Debrecen on Tuesday in time for prayer at ICD International Church of Debrecen. It will be the last time the core group is all there for awhile because Edith left on Wednesday for 2 months in New Zealand. Please pray for her as I just got news her flights have been delayed. She was supposed to be home by now but has only made it as far as LAX. (Los Angeles, CA). Here she as at 3.30 am on Wed ready for the mini bus. She sure packs neatly!! After the prayer meeting, Syble and I went to the American Corner for a viewing of the Super Bowl. It was broadcast live on Sunday here in Hungary and it was taped to show on Tuesday. Most present had not know the results and as Syble says, WOW the Giants won again! We had a blast, and really got into the spirit of it. We also shared our cheering techniques. Now I knew the final result but those last 3 minutes were a nail biter!! Here is a picture of the Super Bowl group. Syble was able to hand out 8 invitations to ICD and I was as

While in Budapest

I really had a great time! After the ESI assignment, I had really good fellowship with Erin and her roomate Heather and friend Marcus. We got to catch up on our lives, got to catch up on some movies and found a region free dvd player for Erin. On Sunday we went to International Church of Budpest. It is always good to hear Pastor Glenn Ford preach and see friends there. Then we went to my fav Don Pepe's for lunch with the Person family and the Pook's. (sorry no pictures of that :-() Because of Erin and Heather's hospitality, I got to stay in Budapest until Tuesday. So, I planned 2 appointments and the Holy Spirit planned the rest! At last, I had time to go see Lizi, my favorite cosmetician. I had Kata Bartha make the appointment without telling Lizi who would arrive. It was a great surprise. Lizi is in a new location and we even had time to pray together. Then I was surprised by her next appointment a dear friend Reka who I knew from my earliest days in Budapest. It w

Akeelah and the Bee

While with Erin I got to see a really good movie from 2006. It took a couple of nights to watch as her dvd player was dying so after the ESI meeting we went out and bought a new dvd player. It also plays mp3's and DivX and most amazing, it is region free! Oh, and on sale! A great score, Erin! Anyway, finally got to the end of the movie. Now, I have a soft spot in my heart for spelling bee films as my son was a champion speller.(Brag,Brag!) In the film the spelling coach is encouraging Akeelah with a poem displayed on his wall. The poem is mentioned a number of times and after googling a bit we found it. It is called "Our Deepest Fear" and is written by Marianne Williamson. This is the part of the poem that is in the film: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, w

ESI, Spiritual Renewal Retreat

Top row, above: Erin,Susan,Heather, David,Lauren, MJ, Dave,Joanna seated:Emeshe,Sarah,Kelly, Kelly(RFC),Steve,Lydia My friend Erin, (who is sent out from Alaska, too) is in her 3rd year of teaching in the Hungarian school system and has found her mission and calling here. Her placement organization is called ESI . This year Erin is the retreat coordinator and asked me to minister for their Spiritual Renewal weekend. Over the years, I have had many friends in ESI and being with this group today brought all of that back to mind. Kelly, the Regional Field Coordinator, came in from Prague. She has been with ESI for a quite awhile and knew the Enserinks who lived at Toldy Ference. When Steve & Shirley left that became my flat and "The Upper-Room Mission Guest House". One of the current ESI families, Steve and Lydia live in that flat today. Kind of a full circle. Lydia is the head of the Hungarian branch of " Mom's in Touch " and is hoping I could connect her with
