A more detailed account of "The Call"

TheCall Nashville
On Saturday, July seventh, two-thousand and seven, nearly one hundred thousand people gathered together to worship Jesus and pray for revival and reformation in America. At seven am around ten thousand people gathered at Centennial Park and began to pray. The heavens shook and the atmosphere was set. Seven thirty am, ten thousand silent warriors begin their three mile walk toward Titan Stadium. We walked down Church Street straight through downtown Nashville. In silence, we cried out to God to change the course of our nation and bring a return to our first love, Jesus Christ. As you looked around, you could see mothers, fathers, children and even grandparents walking, asking, seeking revival and reformation. The Lord moved that morning and it was so tangible. As we walked through the streets, people gathered outside of businesses and shops, restaurants and coffee houses to see what ten thousand people were walking in silence for. You could see that people were moved by our solemn surrender to Christ. The silence had not been broken for some time and we were all used to the silence. People were weeping, realizing that God was about to shake Heaven and earth.
When we arrived at Titan Stadium around eight thirty, worship had already begun and tens of thousands of people already filled the stands. The group leading worship when we arrived was an amazing start to the fifteen hour day. Their hearts were in the right place along with their souls, minds, spirits and bodies. They were not there to advertise or perform; they were there to worship wholeheartedly, without reserve. It was amazing. This young man who led the team was so sold out to Jesus and it was apparent by his posture. He was humble before God and the Lord sang through him. After this groups, some more worship leaders led, artists performed and musicians played. It was interesting to see the differences in some of the groups. You could tell who was there to perform and who was there to worship in spirit and in truth. You can always tell with worshipers. That is why worship must be earnest. No striving. Unto God, not unto men. God doesn’t need background music to move though. He was there even though the hearts of some of the musicians were not. I did wish that the sets were longer. At times it felt like the ocean, wave coming, and wave going. It was choppier sometimes than others, but smooth sailing for most.
Thank God for Lou Engle. Were it not for him and his team, it would have been, let’s say, really different. Lou was great. He was very sensitive to the Holy Spirit. When a worship leader would be singing, he would get up and say, “The Holy Spirit is on that part of the song, stay there.” For ten, maybe fifteen minutes, eighty-thousand people would sing, in unison, the chorus or verse that the Holy Spirit had rested upon. To use the word powerful does not do it justice. Epic maybe. God’s presence was there. We prayed for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the famous case that deemed abortion, a “right to privacy.” For years, Lou Engle and The Cause have been on the battle front praying for this and we have yet to see the fruit of that labor. When Cindy Jacobs got up to speak, however, she watered that seed with a nugget of prophecy that will play a big role in overturning Roe v. Wade. She said that God was not going to allow Roe versus Wade to be overturned until the church was willing to take responsibility for the outcome. The spirit of adoption must be grasped by the church. When abortion is outlawed in America, many children will be put up for adoption instead of being aborted. The church will need to rise up in the spirit of adoption and create homes for these kids. We prayed then and there for this spirit to come.
A woman doctor got up and said that she had done abortions for more than twenty years when she met Jesus. She, speaking to Cindy Jacobs, asked for forgiveness. It was a very emotional part of the day. Then another speaker had all the women who had had an abortion kneel down and receive forgiveness too. Next, all the men who had paid for, or encouraged a woman to have an abortion knelt down and received forgiveness. You could feel hearts breaking and hearts being restored. Some of those women, I’m sure, had lived for years with guilt about their action. Now they were receiving forgiveness and giving up the burden of their sin. It was so intense. Amongst praying against the lie of homosexuality, pornography, and sexual immorality, we took communion as a sign of cleansing and rededicating ourselves to Jesus, and watched three couples get married. It was beautiful.
Eddie James did a very powerful worship set, where we sang Lou’s 22-word prayer. “Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation, God, End abortion and send revival to America.” During which the crowd shouted “LIFE, LIFE, LIFE. . .” It was so powerful, you couldn’t help but smile. Danielle and Darlene Wibeto spoke about their upcoming children’s book entitled, “Justice Loves Babies.” This book is a precious children's story that emphasizes the worth of life and the impact of prayer. You can pre-order the book at www.justicelovesbabies.com.
John Mark McMillan led worship and shared a very moving testimony. His worship really took us into God’s heart and reminded us how wonderful His love is and that His love overcomes all. Ron Luce spoke about the need for revival in our nation. For the youth of our nation. Our youth are being bombarded by the pornography that the adults thought of and made. This led into a time of prayer and crying out to God. We repented for being passive and allowing our youth to be corrupted and destroyed. We cried out to God, asking that He would send a revival to this nation. We prayed for revival to break out on our University campuses and high schools.
The final portion of the evening was led by Ray Hughes and Selah Band. A sound was released and 300 shofars were blown as the sound was released into Heaven. Ricky Skaggs released seven blasts and on the last blast we released every desire we had for this generation and nation. Ramey and Brian Whalen lead “Our Praises Rise.” At that point everyone let go and danced and praised with everything they had. It was a beautiful sight.
What a powerful way to end such an amazing day. It is hard to find the words to describe, not only the whole day, but the worship at the end. That being said, there are clips from the entire day, including the releasing of the sound, on TheCause USA website. Written in part by Destiny DeckerCopyright TheCause 2007
