Szeged and ICF - University Fellowship

I was recently in Szeged visiting my friends and speaking for ICF - International Christian Fellowship-Szeged, Friday at 7.

This fellowship, ICF was started in 2007 with a city-wide concert and began meeting the following weekend.  It was founded because of the heart cry of 3 University students to the missionary, Arden Campbell that was faithfully teaching & leading Bible studies in Szeged. They asked for a "church" to be started in English as many of the university students studied in English and many students' faith were being weakened by not having an opportunity to worship or be taught in English.  Arden answered that "call" and also asked me to help and I then asked fellow missionary Edith Bond and also the Person family and we all contributed to the International Christian Fellowship of Szeged (ICF) - Friday at 7, starting.  What a blessing that this is the 5th year of the fellowship! How enduring God and His Word is even though the "founders" have been called to do other things.  (Arden now married and a missionary in USA, Person's director's of C.E.E.D with Ellel Ministries, me with leadership responsibilities at ICB in Budapest.  Erik and Sarah our Swedish students are now graduated, married each other :-), just had a baby and are living and working in Sweden, and Edith is on assignment at home in New Zealand). How exciting the work continues!!

How wonderful that is for all of us...the work continues because the work was not founded on one or even multiple missionaries but it was built on and by the direction of the Lord.  It is so exciting to see that the "mantle" of responsibility is passed to English speakers living long term in Hungary.  Key to the work now are Cathy Williams, her daughter Kimberley (at the start of ICF a teen but now a university student!) her daughter Samm Chessman and husband Andy Chessman, leader of ICF.  This year Andy was ordained a Chaplain by their Szeged Church and is now expected  to visit campus, put up notices and invitations to ICF, he is also part of the city Pastors who come regularly together for prayer and the work is flourishing!!

You can connect with them on FaceBook: ICF Szeged

Of course, your prayers for the Fellowship and the student are gratefully accepted. Summer gatherings will be more casual as many students are away doing practicums and weekly home meetings will resume after university reconvenes in the fall.
