Pro-Life Conference at the Hungarian Parliment
A beautiful day - a fabulous opportunity!!!
Some of the attendees from the "Shout for Life" Crisis Pregnancy Center (who invited me to attend)
Cell phone photos do not do the ornate, gilded halls justice. Everything was ornate and beautiful!!
The main "Opera" Hall where the parlimenteers convene. This is the main podium. The name of the conference was "Life: It's a gift"
Two of the main presenters. Sharon Slater (www.familywatchinternational.org) and Carlo Casini, a member of the European Union and the President of the Italian Pro-Life movement and party.
Because Ed Bergs (Shout for Life) and I needed translation for some of the conference, we sat directly behind the guest speakers. In fact any of their photos taken from here would feature me behind and between them :-). Did anyone see me on television?
Zsuzsa (Susan) and Ed Bergs, directors of "Shout for Life" Crisis Pregnancy Center. I work with the center leading and training for post-abortion Bible studies
MJ surrounded by beautifully painted murals and the carved wooden podium and gild, gild, gild.
Miss Slater in blue, one of the sponsors, the head of the Hungarian Women's Alliance in red, far right Mr Casini and Dr Igor Beloborodov from Moscow another presenter (www.fromoceantoocean.org)
The new Constitution of Hungary went into affect as of January 2012. This constitution is unique in Europe as it states, "Hungary's people recognize Christianity's role in preserving nationhood", "defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman" and "stipulates the protection of the foetus from conception."
Every speaker underlined the negative consequences of the falling birthrates all over Europe and the threat to families and parental rights and the nations and the future because of the push for "Sexual Rights".
The event was sponsored by the Hungarian Women's Alliance and was attended by some members of the Hungarian Parliment, the Speaker of the House and both the Italian and Slovakian representatives of the European Union.
In addition, speakers and round table discussions were held and chaired by ministries/NGO's that are involved with family, women and children's issues in Hungary. It was so good to hear that a more positive view of adoption is being presented now in Hungary. Also, the conference heard about the need of grief counseling and spiritual healing for women and men who have experienced abortions or miscarriages.
That a conference of this nature would be held in the hallowed halls of Parliament was amazing. The building was a beautiful backdrop for the meetings. We were in the Danube Hall for coffee breaks. For the delicious luncheon we had the opportunity to walk/eat/drink on the lovely terrace overlooking the Danube. The newly set up portal for the event with be expanded to included the many opportunities for families, children and women to receive any help (in or out of crisis) they may need, mentally, physically or spiritually. ( www.azeletajandek.hu) You can also view the day's program there.
In 1997, I began a Monday evening prayer group that met for a number of years. During that time one of the prayers, a Hungarian young lady, had the opportunity to pray on an upper floor over the main meeting hall. She often reported on events that needed our prayer coverage and sometime we saw answers in the newspaper. Now, 15 years later, I am sitting in that hall attending a Pro-Life conference!! Amazing! God you are good!! and I am so privileged to be Yours and to be living here!! Lots still to look forward, too!!
God, please protect these courageous men and women in political positions in this nation and the European Union and the United States who stand for LIFE and You and traditional marriage and family, despite the fierce opposition facing them. Thank you.
Of course, I had an opportunity to meet some people and share a bit. A wonderful day in all!!!
